PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.

• CARETAKER APPOINTED. A special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held on Tuesday night, presided over by the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau). Also present were: Crs. Thompson, J. Ross, Spring, Cowley, Rand and Parkin. An apology for absence was received from Cr. Walker. Mr. S. W. Hudson was appointed caretaker. The Clerk reported that the baths would be completed by October 26th. It was decided to have a bell erected in the baths for emergency purposes and for the purpose of clearing the baths. It was decided that the baths be opened on Wednesday, 9th November, at 2 o’clock by the Mayor, and that invitations be sent out to the Shannon, Levin and Palmerston North Councils to be present on that occasion. An invitation is also to be extended to till four queen candidates who assisted in raising the money for the erection of the baths and the public generally.
