FOXTON SWIMMING CLUB.
Now that the baths are nearing completion and with the advent of the swimming season, the Foxton Swimming Club, which has been in existence for two or three years, unler somewhat adverse circumstances, should have a new lease of life and become one of Foxton’s foremost athletic clubs. The, annual general meeting will be held in Walls Rooms on Thursday evening, to which all members and intending members are requested to be present.
Now that Foxton possesses public swimming baths (the funds for which were contributed b” the public per medium of a carnival) there should be a marked increase in the membership of the local swimming club. We understand that the club intends to put on an acquatic carnival during the summer, which will afford the focal public an opportunity of seeing the leading district swimmers in action. % We are also informed that it is the club’s intention to raise a fund for the installation of electric light. The club will also inaugurate classes in first aid.
