FIRST DAY AT OTAKI,
Beautiful weather prevailed for the first day of the Otaki Racing Club’s annual fixture yesterday. There was not a particularly large attendance, but the totalisator handled £14,227, as against £14,468 on the opening day last year, a decrease of £241. A sensational dividend attached to the victory of Mr. T. M. Wilford’s gelding Rotowhero in the Maiden Plate. Results: —

Pahiko Hack Handicap:—Duke Abbey 1, Avro 2, Manoy 3. Won by lavo lengths. Time lmin. 15sec. ■ Wlaitawa Handicap: — Croivn Area 1, Mircusonta 2, Lausanne 3. Won by half a length. Time lmin. 13 3-ssec.
Taumanuka Hack Handicap:— Mr. A. Steer’s Boy 1, Oratrix 2, Mister Gamp 3. Won by a head. Time lmin. 48sec.
