THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Commissioner’s cablegram, dated, the Ist inst., reads: — Hemp, Manila market easier early this week and '“J” grade, OctoberDecember shipments sold at £42 10s and down to £42 ss. The market was steady at the close, sellers quoting £42 15s. The' Sisal market is steady. No. T arrived and sold at £37 and No. 3 £36, for Septem-ber-November shipments. No. 1 is quoted sellers at £37 12s. The tow market is quiet with value, No. 1 £3l to £32. The New Zealand hemp market is quiet and business has been done with October-December shipments on the basis of £33 10s for fair and £32 10s for common high points; sellers £35 10s, but buyers ideas £35. The tow market is quiet and easier value; second grade £23 and third grade £2O.
