MAIN HIGHWAYS.

MEETING OF THE BOARD.

At a meeting of the Main Highways Board it was reported that the following were included in the more important works carried out during the month of August:—

Tawa Flat —Porirua. —83 chains of widening has been carried out. Waikanae—Manakau.—4-} miles of this section has been prepared for bituminous penetration woi'k. Levin. —Palmerston North via Shannon.— 2 miles 65 chains of formation work has been carried out-between Shannon and Makcrua and a further 2 miles 25 chains is in hand between Tokoinaru River and the county boundary.

Foxton — Shannon. — Manawatu River Bridge.—The approach bank on the Shannon side is being completed and preparations have been made for .the driving of the piles.
