HARRY JACOB INJURED.
IN NASH KNOCK-OUT MATCH.
Harry Jacob, the veteran Manawhenua captain and All Black received. serious injury while participating in the final of the knock-out competition at Levin, Wanderers, v. Shannon, for the Nash Cup on Saturday, when in collaring Payne, he fell on the latter player’s elbow, receiving internal injuries which ultimately necessitated his removal to the hospital. The incident 'happened early in the game, but Jacob persisted in seeing the game out, and although he was unable to do much actual play, he was invaluable as a general. After the match he was examined by Dr. Thompson and informed that he would have to go to the hospital, but he held out until .9 p.m. land then collapsed at his home. The doctor again advised his removal, but it was nob until nearly 4 a.m. on Sunday morning that Jacob gave ,in and left for Palmerston North. He was operated on immediately on his arrival at six o’clock, and although the injury is considered to be of rather a serious nature, he is reported to be making good progress towards recovery.
