RUGBY FOOTBALL.

Sooner or later a more satisfactory arrangement will be come to between the districts comprising Horowhenua and Manawatu in reference to club competitions. This wilk result in what is known as the Te Kawau sub-union, which will extend from Foxton in the south to Sanson in the north and eastward to Rangiotu, becoming a governing body with the same rights and privileges as are exercised by Horowhenua and Manawatu. This arrangement will stimulate Rugby in this part of the district and will widen the scope for the selection of players from the combined area for classic events. AUCKLAND DRAW WITH SOUTH AUCKLAND. Auckland, Saturday. The All-Black: trial match played here to-day between teams representing Auckland and North Auckland (one team) and Waikato, Bay of Thames Valley and King Country resulted in a draw, each side scoring eight points. Heavy rain made the ground in an exceptionally heavy state and good back play was impossible. As indicative of the standard of All-Black play the game was very disappointing. CANTERBURY COMBINED BEAT OTAGO. '■ Dunedin, Saturday. The All-Black trial between North Otago, Otago and Southland combined and Canterbury, Ashburton and South Canterbury combined was played at Carisbrook to-day in fine weather, the ground being in good order. ' The attendance was about 10,000. The scores were Canterbury combined 30, Otago combined 25. WAIRARAPA DEFEATS WELLINGTON. Wellington, Saturday. At Rugby Wairarapa outplayed Wellington in all departments on Saturday on Athletic Park to win in a hollow fashion by 36 points, to 19. Wellington were a beaten team right from the start or a few minutes after. The Wairarapa. fifteen, on Saturday’s display, was quite the best team which .has been seen at Athletic Park this season. Their big forwards moved splendidly, and were excellently supported by a most capable set of backs, who appeared to play if anything above themselves. Had Wairarapa been able to pi'oduce such form earlier in the season they would still be the champion Rugby team of the Dominion.

A committee meeting of the Foxton Football Club will be held in 'Walls’ Rooms on Friday evening at 7.30 o’clock sharp. A full attendance is requested. Business important.
