HOROWHENUA POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board was held in Levin on Tuesday, there being present: Messrs Monk (chairman), Barber, Vincent, Bryant, Morse, Blenkhorn, Petheriok, Gunning, Goldsmith (secretary) and Smith (engineer). A letter was received from the secretary of the N.Z. Power Boards Association with regard to stamp duty on agreements. This covered a legal opinion that signed applications from intending consumers not containing any words of agreement by them are not liable to agreement stamps, but are liable if they contain any words of agreement by consumers. TREASURER’S REPORT. The Treasurer reported as follows : Revenue Earned.—The first four months of the present financial year shows a total increase of revenue earned of 26.63 per cent., as compared with the same period 12 months ago. It is quite possible, however, that this rale of increase may not be maintained over the whole year.
\ Balance-Sheet. The balancesheet showed: —
Receipts for August: Installations, fittings and service lines, Aug- , ust, 1927, £643 Os 4d; April-August, £3,595 19s 2d. Interest on installation accounts, £62 17s 8d; £292 15s lOd. Consumers’ deposits, £10; £SO 10s. Electricity and meter rents, £2,208 Is 2d; £17,063 4s 6d. Penalties, £36 7s 6d; £lOl 17s. Rents and \iiscellaneous, £33 19s lOd; £l9l 4s sd. Totals, August, 1927, £2,994 6s Od; April-August, £21,192 10s lid. ELECTRICITY AMD METER RENTS. For 5 months ended August 31st, .1927, £17,063 4s 6d. For 5 months ended August 31st, 1926, £14,414 13s lOd. Increase, £2,648 10s Bd. This table shows that the takings for electi'icity and meter rents were £2,208, and that the total receipts under this head for the first five .months of the financial year stand at £17,063. It will be noted that quite a number of consumers pay penalty rates; since the beginning of the year over £IOO has been paid. Accounts amounting to £1,813 13s lOd were passed for payment. £IO,OOO Loan. —The final arrangements with regard to this loan from the Public Trustee have been completed, and a first instalment of £3,000 has come to hand. The charges in connection with the raising of the loan have been paid, and ■ interest on the £3,000 starts as from the "Ist instant. The chairman stated that the cost of raising the £IO,OOO loan was £2B 7s 6d. ANALYSIS OF CONNECTED LOAD. k.w. Lighting 940 Tl. / No. h.p. The Engineer reported as follows: Installations: —During the month 16 applications from new consumers and 45 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising 8 ranges, 10 waterheaters, 15 milking and separating motors, and 7 industrial motors; 25 new consumers and 41 extensions have been connected up during the period, and include 10 ranges, 15 waterheaters, 11 milking and separanitgxzftfiffiffi'xzfiilffxzfiflff .and separating motors, and 2 industrial motors. Test Room.— 25 single-phase meters have been tested, and 3 ranges tested, dried out and delivered to consumers. Workshop.—'Six 15 gallon and 4 20-gallon waterheaters have been made up, and one 11,000 volt switch panel; also a quantity of line materials. A start has been made with the canvass in connection with the community lighting in Levin, and satisfactory results have been obtained so far. The report was adopted.
