TENNIS.
A committee meeting of the Foxton Tennis Club was held on Monday evening, at Mr L. C. Bryant’s j-esidenee. Those present were: Messrs R. McMurray (president), L- C. Bryant, H. Hutchins, N and W. Ross, J. , Newton, L. Ihle, C. Procter (secretary), Mesdames Hay and McMurray, and Miss Perreau. *
Matters in connection with the preparation of the courts for opening day were fully discussed. It was decided that, where necessary, the ends of courts be turfed, Mr W. Ross to arrange for labour, and Mr J. Newton to procure roller for this work. ■ "
A recommendation was. also moved by the Ground Committee that opening day be fixed for Saturday, 15th October. . ■ Mr Hutchins was instructed to make inquiries re suitable material for erecting a pavilion, the matter to come up for discussion at the next meeting. It was* decided to invite all interested to participate in a planting “bee” on Saturday next, from 3 to 4 p.m.
The following working “bee” was arranged to. prepare the ground for planting: —Messrs Bryant, Hutchins, N. and W. Ross, Ihle, J. Newton, D. McMurray and C. Procter. Miss Perreau was deputed to organise a ladies’ “bee” for weeding. It was resolved • that proposed members pay 5s nomination fee, this amount to be deducted from their subscription when paid. Mr A. Stevenson jnr. was elected a new member.
A resignation was received from Miss I. McEwen.
A vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Bryant and the chair concluded the meeting.
