GAS WORKS.
AUGUST WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of August was 362,600 feet, which with the amount in the holder on August Ist 15,200 feet made a total of 377,800 feet. During the month 313,800 feet were used by consumers, 20,800 feet at the works and there was 14,000 feet in the holder on September Ist, making a total of 348,600 feet accounted for and leaving 29,200 feet representing 7.4 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-three tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,987 e.feet of gas to the ton and producing 9 tons 2 cwt. of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £202 12s 12s and was made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £37 4s lOd, heat and power £99 13s Gd, coke sales £42 Is lid, tar sales £2 11s Od, weighing £3 10s 6d, fittings £l6 16s 9d, miscellaneous 13s Gd.
The expenditure for the month totalled £255 0s 9d, and mas made up as follows: —Coal £92 13s 6d, salaries and wages £43 4s Od, services and fittings £lO 17s Bd, tools 19 9d, meter repairs £36 13s lid, printing and advertising £5 4s 7d, cartage and freight £2 0s Id, interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. est and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. — Adopted.
GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that one new service was renewed dur ing the month, several services cleaned out and one gas fire installed. The demand for coke was good.—Adopted.
