THEFT FROM MOTOR CAR.

Edward Ellis Spicer, a ymulh .aged 20 years, of Moutoa, was charged with the. theft of a pump, two and repair outfit from a motor car at Moutoa on the night of' August 16th, at the local S.M. Court yesterday, before Mi - . J. L. Stout, S.M. Constable Owen stated that a man named A. Evans left his car in a paddock at Moutoa on the date in question and when he returned to it he discovered that the tools were missing. He did not report the matter to the police but went into a grocer’s shop in Foxton to purchase a new pump some days later when he was shown his own pump which accused had sold to the storekeeper and had taken the amount out in stores. When questioned accused .denied stealing the articles, but later admitted everything. Accused pleaded guilty and the S.M., in imposing a, fine of £2, said he believed that the conviction would be a lesson to accused. Two native lads appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Juvenile Court charged with thieving from .motor cars parked in front of the Town Hall and were admonished and the oases dismissed.
