The decision is taken in well-informed circles as indicating that Hawke’s Bay will hand the shield to the new holders and then let the matter drop. By defeating Poneke at Wellington on Saturday, Old Boys became the champion senior team in the Wellington Union. A gold medal to be presented to the most improved player in the Foxton juniors is to be awarded to Jeff Williams, with Hartley as run-ner-up. Both players have shone out conspicuously during the season. The following Foxton Club players have been selected in the rep. team to play Rangitikei at Marton, on Saturday:—Hartley and Huff emergency. •
