PRESENTATION TO MR. AND MRS. F. RIMMER.
Advantage was taken at the largely attended social held in the Methodist schoolroom last evening of the opportunity to acknowledge the indebtedness of the W.C.T.U. and the Methodist Church to Mr and Mrs F. Rimmer, who are shortly leaving Foxton to take up their residence in Sydney.. On behalf of the former institution, Mrs John Ross (vice-president of the Foxton Union) made feeling reference to Mrs Rimmer’s many labours for the cause whilst occupying the position of secretary of the local branch of the W.C.T.U., and asked her acceptance of a handsome travelling rug to help make the journey a more comfortable one. As representing the local church, and especially the Methodist Guild, Re.v S. Peryman handed to Mrs Rimmer a leather suitcase, which he asked her to accept with The best wishes of all for herself, and also for Mr Rimmer and Dorothy and Joyce. They would be all greatly missed from the church and Guild, and he hoped that good friends and all things good would await them in their new home. •Mrs G. Honore, the president of the Ladies’. Guild, also presented Mrs Rimmer with a bouquet, as conveying the love of the members of the Guild. Hearty applause accompanied the presentation of these tokens of goodwill, after which, at Mrs Rimmer’s request, Mr S. E. Cowley warmly thanked all those present for their kindness.
