ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
N.Z. WINS THIRD TEST,
HONOURS NOW EVEN.
New Zealand beat Canada at Wellington on Saturday in the third Soccer test, by one goal to nil, McCormick scoring a few seconds before the end of the first spell. ■ Play was very fast throughout, both teams taking turns in the attack. Although both goalies were called upou to make saves (some of them brilliant) the shooting at goal generally was of podr direction. Both teams showed fine combination and were generally sound in defence. The New Zealand team proved themselves a fine representative side. The following fixtures have been drawn up: — Saturday next Athletic v. Foxton at Foxton. July 23.—St. Andrews v. Foxton, at Palmerston North. TARANAKI TOUR. The chairman reported at last night’s meeting of the Association in Palmerston North that no word had been received as yet from the South Taranaki Association regarding the dates of tie proposed games at Hawera. Hopper, is the only local player chosen to go into training in view of the tour.
