RAILWAY TRAFFIC RETURNS.
The traffic returns of the railways for the period ending 28th May, and for the corresponding period last year (shown in parentheses) were as follows: —-North Island main lines and branches: Revenue, passengers £103,078 8s 3d (£108,114 18s 7d); parcels, £17,789 Is 4d (£17,691); goods £213,528 10s 5d (£189,496 14s 5d).; labour and demurrage, £2,226 17s 5d (£5,790 12s 9d); total, £340,622 17s 5d (£321,093 11s 9d). South Island: Revenue, passengers £32720 12s lOd (£50,741 4s lid); parcels, £9,845 4s lid (£10,278 18s Id); goods, £171,408 19s lid (£151,160 0s 6d); labour and demurrage, £5,202 12s Od (£4,499 8s lOd). Total, £239,237 10s 2d (£216,679 12s 4d). :
