DRIFT TO THE TOWNS.

+ One of the most serious difficulties beginning to confront New Zealand, stated the Minister of Education (the Hon. R. A. Wright) in the House of Representatives on Thursday, was the unfortunate migration of people from the.country districts to the towns. He believed that the rural population was now below that in the towns. If this drift continued it would lead to a serious state of affairs, and there would he insufficient people in the country districts to keep the Dominion going. Anything that could he done to assist the primary producers and keep people in the country should he done. He did not think New Zealand would ever be able to export the products of its secondary industries, although it might be able to produce enough from those industries lo meet its own needs.
