GAS WORKS.

APRIL WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during t he month of April was 354,000 ft., which with the amount in the holder on April lsl 18,000 ft. made a total of 372,500 ft. During the month 307,700 ft. were used by consumers, 21,000 ft. at the works and there was 14,000 ft. in the holder on May Ist, making a total of 342,700 ft. accounted for and leaving 29,800 ft. representing 8 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirtyfour tons of coal were carbonised, ycilding 10,42(5 c.ft. of gas to the ‘ ton and producing S tons 5 cwt. of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £2OO 3s Gd and were made up as follows:—Gas sales (lighting) £4O 18s Gd, heat and power), £lll 5s Bd, coke sales £ll 19s lid, tar sales £2O 8s Od, fittings £l4 17s 3d, miscellaneous 14/2. The expenditure for the month totalled £249 7s 5d and were made up as follows :—Coal £95 9s Bd, salaries and wages £3B 7s 9d, labour, services £2 12s 3d, services and fittings £2O 14s 7d, tools 12/3, general repairs £3 6s -2d, meters £lO 10s 2d, insurance £9 11s 4d, cartage and freight £1 19s 2d, working expenses 16/10, Power Board £2, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. The gas manager reported that during the month two gas cookers > and one calif out were installed and a. good many pipes and services cleaned out. The apparatus at the works was in good condition.— Adopted.
