A LEAKING BOTTLE.
HAIRDRESSER SUED
A lady who said she had her coat and two pairs of stockings damaged as the result of a cork not being properly secured in a bottle of hair tonic she purchased recently led to Benjamin Brickman, a hairdresser, being defendant in a civil claim for £9 16s lOd, damages brought against him by Harriet Enna Gandy in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court, on Tuesday. The defence was.that plaintiff had been warned that the preparation was liable to force its way out of the bottle, whereupon counsel for plaintiff submitted that defendant should have seen that the cork was secure. “The bottle leaked in her bag, and did damage, on which the claim is made,” he said. Defendant stated that the bottle was properly corked, and that the cork had probably come out as the result of Mrs. Gandy swinging her hag about.
