FOXTON DORCAS SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above was held in the Plunket office yesterday afternoon. Those present were: Mesdames F. Robinson (President), W. H. Walton, C. Desmond, A. Ross W. H. Nicholas, .J. M. Barr, Captain Sanson, Lieutenant Blakie, Misses J. Ross and A. M. T. Williams,‘Revs. W. H. Walton and W. 11. Nicholas and the hon sec., Mrs. R. McMurray. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. Moore and Christie. The Rev. Walton was voted to the chair and welcomed new members, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nicholas, Captain Sanson and Lieutenant Blackie. The chairman in speaking to the adoption of the report and balance-sheet said tlie Society’s work for the past year was satisfactory. He referred to some of the difficulties met with in the work and explained for the benefit of new members, the method adopted by the Society in assisting necessitous cases. The baloncc-shcet showed an expenditure £l3 9s lid, £7 10s of which was emergency cash grants. The Society had a satisfactory balance with, which to start the now year. . Mr. Nicholas stated that he was very pleased to find that there was such a Society in active existence in Foxton. The report and balance-sheet wove adopted. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mrs. F. Robinson; hon. sec,, Mrs. R. McMurray; auditor, Mr. R. Rangiheuea; committee, Rev. and Mrs. W. IT. Walton, Rev. and Mrs. S. Peryman, Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Nicholas, Rev. Father McDermott, Captain Sanson, Lieutenant Blackie, Mesdames A. Ross, J. M. Barr, R, Moore, C. A. Pearson, C. Desmond, D. Christie and Misses J. Ross and A. M. T. Willaims; investigation committee, Mr. W. H. Nicholas, Captain Sanson, Revs. Peryman and Walton. The chairman expressed appreciation of the work of the ladies during the past year and moved that a vote of thanks be accorded the auditor Mr. R. Rangiheuea. The President thanked the hon. sec. and committee for past services and extended a welcome to new members. If. was decided that committee meetings he held the last Friday in the months of June, July and August. It was decided to make an appeal for clothing, boots, etc., which may he left at Mr. G. F. Smith’s shop, Main Street. Parcels of clothing were acknowledged from Mesdames F. Robinson F. A. Mason, E. M. Wyllie and J. H. Robinson. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
