RACING

THE WANGANUI MEETING. FOUR HORSES KILLED. Disaster attended the running of the May Hurdles, and the Grandstand Steeplechase on Saturday, and of the Wanganui Steeples on the opening day of the Wanganui meeting last week, four horses, Ardath, Labour Morn, Peter Rosa and Hallowmorn each having to be destroyed through injuries received, Labour Morn, a local horse, owned and trained by Mr. F. J. Carmont, stumbled at a jump and broke a fetlock, necessitating its destruction.

On Saturday W. Bowden rode Enare into second place in the Rata Hack Hurdle’s. P. Mcßrearty was placed third on San Pedro and also gained a similar position in the May Hurdles Handicap on Koauau. Mr. F. S. Easton’s Rouex ran into second place in the Empire Handicap.
