HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The Higli Commissioner’s (fablegram, dated the 7th instant, reads:
Manila market quiet, but,prices firmer. J grade, May-July shipments, quoted sellers £4l. The output at 30th April was 429,000 bales, as against 442,000 for the same time last year. Stocks in Manila at 30th April were 130,000, against 182,000 bales in Great Britain, 5,000, against 20,000. Sisal shows a better demand for afloat, and business has,been done at £3B for No 1. July-September shipments sold at £37 10s. The New Zealand market is quiet. Buyers here have paid New Zealand, sellers during this week £34 for fair, but no business has been done in high points, but nominal value is £35.
