TREE PLANTING ON TARGET RESERVE.

COUNCIL’S SCHEME.

At last night’s Borough Council meeting the Mayor said the time was now opportune for extending the Council’s tree planting scheme on the Target Reserve. The trees planted four or five years ago were doing splendidly, and already were preventing the drifting of sand on the reserve.

Cr. Roore moved that the matter be referred to the Reserves Committee, with power to act, and this was agreed to, a suggestion being made that the Committee plant 1,000 two-year-old macrocarpa trees instead of pinus insignis this year.
