PALMERSTON NORTH OR MANAWATU?

COUNCIL OBJECTS TO PROPOSED CHANGE.

At last night’s Borough Council meeting a letter was received from the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, asking for the Council’s support in a protest against Palmerston N. changing its name to Manawatu. The Council unanimously supported the protest, Councillors expressing the opinion that any change in the name- would only lead to confusion.
