BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly and first meeting of the newly-elected Council, was held last night. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the Palmerston North Borough Council, re payment of legal costs incurred by local bodies in connection with the ManawatuOroua River Board Commission. — Received. From same, enclosing a letter from the Associated Chambers of Commerce re overseas publicity.—- i Received. From Mr F. Woods, resigning the position as Council representative on the Foxton Fire Bard.—Received. Cr. Parkin was appointed the Council’s representative on the Board, vice Sir Woods, and it was decided, to forward Mr Woods a letter of appreciation of his past services. WATER WORKS REPORT. The waterworks foreman reported that during the month two sewer connection and three water services were laid. The sewers in Avenue Road, Park, Coley and Jcnks Streets became blocked and had to be attended to. Pumping Station Report:—During the month 1,555,000 gallons of water was pumped, the maximum current used being 31 amps.—Adopted. ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT. The road foreman reported that dui’ing the month the road staff: had been engaged on the following wrrks: —Cleaning drains, Spring and Coley streets; grading Sandon road and Duncan street, replacing wooden ■ culvert (o Council 1 yard with concrete one, street - cleaning, etc. The two-foot pipe culvert crossing iSpring street,, has also been taken up and the drain bridged with planks. —Adopted.
