HOBSON SHIELD SPORTS.
CHAMPIONSHIP HONOURS WON BY FOXTON.
On the Levin Park Domain on Saturday afternoon the Hobson Shield Schools Championship Sports meeting was held in very cold weather. The principal schools in the district sent their champions to compete, and two lorry-loads of children and adults went from Foxton. The competitive spirit was very keen, and some excellent finishes were witnessed. The running by two of the girls, (Margaret Barron (Foxton), and Iris Milne (Tokomaru), was remarkably good, both girls showing staying power and easily f outdistancing their competitors. The aggregate result of the sports resulted in a win for Foxton, who won the Hobson shield, with Levin runners up. • The Mayor (Mr T. Hobson),-in presenting the trophy, congratulated the schools on their fine performances. Mr R. J. Foss, headmaster at Levin, and Mr Warwick, first assistant master at Foxton, responded on behalf of their schools. The following are the results:— Boys under 12, 150 yds.—l Levin, 2 Foxton (Ken. Rossiter), 3 Tokomaru. Boys under 13, 100 yds. —1 AVailcanae, 2 Tokomaru, 3 Mangahao. Girls under 13, 75 yds.—l Levin, 2 Tokomaru, 3 Foxton (Jean Coley). Boys under 13, 150 yds. 1 AYaikanae, 2 Foxton (Len. Thompson), 3 Levin. Girls under 13, 100 yds. 1 Levin, 2 Tokomaru, 3 Waikanae. Boys under 14, 100 yds.—l foxion (Bert Coley), 2 Tokomaru, 3 Levin. Girls under 14, 75 yds. —1 lox-' ton (Margaret Barron), 2 Levin, 3, Tokomaru. Boys under 14, 150 yds. —1 Tokomaru, 2 Convent, 3 Waikauae. Girls under 14, 100 yds—l Levin and Tokomaru dead heal for Ist place, 3 Convent. Boys under 15, .100 yds. —1 Convent, 2 Foxton (Bert Coley), 3 Tokomaru.
