Mr. R. McMurray who was a member of the last Council, is not seeking re-election on this occasion, as it is probable that lie will be leaving the district at an early date.
Itr. T. W. Winstanley, the other member of the Council, left the district some time ago.
Nominations of candidates for the Borough Council, Foxton Harbour Board, and Horowhenua Power Board closed at noon yesterday. Mr. R. Bryant was elected unopposed to the Horowhenua Power Board. The sitting member, Mr. Alex. Ross, did not seek re-election. For the Harbour Board there are four nominations for two vacancies. Ten nominations have been received for the nine vacancies on the Borough Council. The Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau) has been re elected unopposed.
