Probably the only man alive who was born in the lower reaches of Queen Street, Auckland, Sir Edwin Mitcbelson, celebrated his 81st birthday to-day. Born in a little house that stood somewhere about where the palatial offices of the New Zealand Insurance Company now rear their expensive marble head, Sir Edwin has seen Auckland grow from a mere village to a city of nearly 200,000 people. Auckland -was only six years old when he lirst saw the light, and he must be .(he oldest Aucklander living.
