PERSONAL
Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Redman, of Napier, paid a brief visit to Foxton on Thursday. Mr. Redman is a member of the literary staff of the Hawke's Bay Herald. A quiet wedding took place recently at St. Mary’s Church, Levin, conducted by the Rev. J. C. Davies, when Mrs. M. E. Baillie (late of Carterton) was married to Mr. C. IL Holland, of Palmerston North. They are spending their honeymoon in the north. Mrs. Hammonds, matron of the children’s Home at the seaside, has resigned. This news will be received with sincere regret by the local public and more particularly by her little charges who have found in her a devoted and affectionate foster mother. The home, under the care of Mrs. Hammonds, has been a model of tidiness and order and visitors have paid the highest encomiums to the matron, who has made her “family” her first consideration in all matters. The authorities will find it difficult to replace such a devoted, thorough and kindly matron.
