OBITUARY.

The sudden death took place at Hawora on March 24th of Mrs. J. Wicks, aged 5(5 years. Deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ballantync, of Wanganui. Prior to her marriage deceased was on the teaching staff of the. Foxton school, what time the late Mr. W. Stewart was headmaster. During her residence in Foxton the late Mrs. Wicks was very popular and took a keen interest in the social welfare of the town. Deceased leaves a husband, three brothers and three sisters (one of the latter is Mrs. C. Easton of Shannon) to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at Hawera last Saturday and the cortege was one of the largest yet seen in that centre.
