FAR-REACHING APPEAL.
WOMEN IN SHOPS. HOURS OF WjORK. Auckland, Alarch 21. Mr Justice AlacGregor allowed the appeal by the Inspector of Factories against the decision of Air F. K. Hunt, S.AI., holding that SubSeetion 3 of Section 3 of the Shops and Offices Act, which provides that no female under any circumstances may be employed, after 9.30 p.fn. does include a female occupier of a shop or wife of the occupier. All- Alahoney, for appellant, said that it was finding guilty and hanging every female shopkeeper in New Zealand. His Honour said that he had given his opinion. His business was to administer the law.
