GAS WORKS.

JANUARY WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month .of January was 356,100 ft., which with the amount in the holder of January Ist 16,000 ft., made a total of 572,100 ft. During the month 293,600 ft. was used by consumers, 22,000 ft. at the works and there was 16,200 ft. in the holder on February Ist, making a total of 331,800 ft accounted for and leaving 30,300 ft. representing 8.1 per 'cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-four tons ol’ coal were carbonised, yielding 10,473c.ft. of gas to the ton and producing Slops 15cwt. of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £192 17a 3d and were made up as follows:—Gas sales (lighting) £39 7s 4d (heat and power) £92 2s Id ; coke sales £l7 0s Id; tar sales £2O 14s Od; fittings £2l 8s 9d; miscellaneous £2.5s Od. The expenditure for-the month, totalled £2lO 2s 8d and were made up as follows: —Coal £97 10s Od; salaries and wages £43 8s Id; services and fittings £3 13s Id; cartage and freight £3 9s 4d; working expenses 7/6; Power Board £2; Interest and Sinking Fund £59 11s Bd.
