MR. E. R. B. HOLBEN TENDERS HIS RESIGNATION.
FROM FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
Mr. E. R. B. Holben sprang somewhat of a surprise on the meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board held in Palmerston North yesterday, by tendering his resignation from the Board on account of pressure of business. Mr. Holben said he had been associated with the Board since its inception, and he felt the' time had arrived when he should make room on it for someone else.
Mr. J. Chrysta.il (Foxton): “I sincerely hope that Mr. Holben will withdraw his notice of resignation.’-’ He referred to the valuable-services rendered by Mr. Holben during his long association with the Board, and suggested that leave of absence should be granted hinr lgorder that he might take the rest he deserved. Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., said that the matter came as a shock to him, and he thought that Mr. Holben should postpone handing in his resignation, pending an important discussion after the end of the present financial year. The chairman, in concurring in the view of the other inembei s, described Mr. Holben’s action os “rather a bombshell to him.” Mr. Holben ultimately consented to reconsider the matter...
