ACCIDENT IN MAIN STREET.
CYCLIST COLLIDES WITH MOTOR CAR.
AND BREAKS lUS ARM
Three young men, J. Aldridge, 11. Newson and L. King were speeding along Alain Street on Tuesday evening on push bicycles, when Aldridge, who had his head down, collided with a. motor car driven by Mi's Fowler. The motor car was on the point of turning in front of Walls’s shop as the cyclists came along. Aldridge's cycle struck the car head on and he was thrown over the bonnet and fell underneath the car and the wheel of tin l car went over his left arm, breaking if above the wrist. The young man received medical attention and yesterday entered the Palmerston North Hospital where an x-ray examination of the injured limb was made. Aldridge is progressing satisfactory. [While not wishing to prejudice the local Cycling Club’s competitions, we are of the opinion that the main thoroughfare should not be used for training purposes as the practice is becoming a menace to the safety of the public and competitors.—Ed.H.]
