FINAL OF TRIANGULAR SHIELD CONTEST.
Yesterday afternoon, on the local green, the final round «f the Tri-, angular Shield Contest was played, two rinks from both Shannon and Levin Clubs competing against four rinks representing Foxton. The result of the contest was a win for Shannon bv a. margin of nine points over Levin, and thirty-one over Foxton in, the aggregate for the three rounds of the contest. Shannon thus holds the coveted shield for the ensuing year, and has the Club name inscribed thereon.
The details of yesterday’s play were as follows: —
Levin: Monks, Percy, Bull, Suhnn (s) 21. v. Parkin, Pearson, Mat tar, Bryant (s) 17. Ritnmer, Huntley, Christie, Thomson (s) 20. v. Levin: Pyke, Brown, Hawke, P. Clements (s) 17. Shannon: B. Spencer, Clayton, Knowles, Roac-h (s) 2(i. v. Whibley, Downes, McColl, Wjoods (s) 21. Shannon: Mason, Murray, Jones, E. Spencer (s) 20. v. Easton, Wallon, Adinore, Nye (s) 20. The aggregate scores for the three rounds played are as follows: —Shannon, .105 points, Levin, 156 .points, Foxton, .134 points. At the conclusion of play, Mr. Perreau (President), congratulated Shannon Club on their win, and presented the Shield to them. jtfr. E. Spenser, received the fcroph "n behalf of his club, and appropriately returned thanks. Cheers were given for the winners by Foxton and Levin players, and alternately for the losers'bv Shannon bowlers.
Ota-ki Club has invited three rinks from Foxton to visit them on the 16th inst. It is understood the invitation has been accepted.
