ROAD CYCLE RACING
ALDRIDGE IVINS CHAMPIONSHIP BY HALF A WHEEL.
More than usual interest was evinced in yesterday’s road cycle races, organised by the Foxton Amateur Cycling Club, the public turning out in good force to witness the events. The results are as follows : B Grade, seven laps:— W. Wright (45 sec) 1 R. Chryslal (80 sec) 2 ,L Satherley (GO see) .... 3 E. Coley (25 sec) .... 3 Wright rode a great race tfnd won comfortably with Chrystall, a new rider, a distance ahead of Satherley and Coley who dead-heated for third place after a great struggle. Cunningham rode into fourth place. Several riders had to drop out owing to mishaps. A Grade Championship, three laps: —Time 10 minutes. G. Aldridge 1 E. Robinson ;.. 2 P. Honour 3
One of the most evenly matched races of the season, which provided a most exciting finish. Aldridge came into the straight hard pressed by Robinson. Robinson chose to attempt to pass Aldridge on the wrong side and was ;jus,t beaten by half a wheel.. Had be kept to thq other side it is possible the result may have been reversed. Both riders showed great dash and are at the top of form. P. Honour rode a close third. B. GRADE RIDER’S POINTS. L. King 12 points, H. Newson 9, E. Coley 8, W. Wright 6, Cunningham _ 6, Chrystall 4, J. Satherley 4,. J. Aldridge 2, P. Lockwood 1. The Foxton Cycling Club is holding a euchre party in Hamer’s sample rooms to-night.
