FIRE ALARM.

The fire syren aroused the local public a little after, midnight on Tuesday. The night watchman noticed a glare in a north-easterly direction hut well outside the local fire area. He notified the fire station and the alarm was sounded but the brigade did not turn out.

In future it is hoped that a little more discretion will he exercised before an alarm is given, as the brigade only operates within the borough.
