THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. The High Commissioner's cable, dated the 24th inst., reads:—“Manila market dull, hut firm with ‘J grade afloat sold at £4B 15/- per ton. November-January shipments quoted at £4B per ton. Sisal market quiet, and easier. Nominal value. Tanganyika find Kenya No. 1 £4l .17/- position. The New Zealand market is quiet with high points nominally 15/- per ton cheaper. Fair, £3O per ton; Common £33 6/-; De-cember-February shipments afloat parcels 10/- above these figures. Stocks of New Zealand hemp in London on the 30th November were 11 tons, as against 98 tons at the same tiime last year. The tow market is slow on the basis £26 10/per ton for No. 2.”
