BURNING FATALITY.

LITTLE GIRL LOSES HER LIFE,

Lorna, the nine-year-old daughter of Mr Chas. Allen, of Broadway, Palmerston N., lost her life on Tuesday evening through her clothes catching fire, and she was so shockingly burnt that she died in a few hours.

While in the aet of lifting the kettle from the gas ring, the sleeve of her dress caught fire. She rushed down the stairs,' where the draught in the open passage-way fanned the flames till the unfortunate child was enveloped. The little sufferer was immediately removed to the hospital. There it was found that the burns were so extensive that small hope was entertained of recovery, and the child passed away at 9.30.
