WOMAN’S SUICIDE.
HUSBAND SEVERELY CENSURED.
Christchurch, December 22
At the inquest concerning the death of Mary Yard ley Rosevear, found dead at her residence in Hazeldean Rd., last Saturday, with a gas tube in her mouth, Mr H. P. Lowry, Coroner, found that the woman died of asphyxiation by coal gas which she took while in a mentally depressed condition. At the previous stage of the inquest, the Coroner expressed great dissatisfaction with the evidence given by the woman’s husband, Samuel John Rosevear, and also the fact, that he had destroyed a letter which she had left. Commenting on the ease to-day, Mr Lawry said, “1 don't think there is any doubt that the conduct of deceased’s husband had a good deal to do with her determination to do away with herself. To me his actions seem extraordinary.
