PRESBYTERIAN SABBATH SCHOOL.
CONCERT AND PRIZE-GIVING,
The annual concert and prizegiving in connection with the Presbyterian Sabbath School was held in the school ball last night and was well attended. The superintendent (Airs Jno. Ross) and her staff of teachers are to be congratulated upon the excellence of the programme submitted and the children deserve special praise, individually and collectively, for the items which included instrumental and vocal items, recitations and dialogues. Each pupil received a prize. Mr J. K. Hornblow presided and presented the prizes and congratulated the superintendent, staff and pupils upon the work of the year. Mrs Ross was made the recipient of two tokens of esteem, one from the teaching staff in the shape of a tray cloth, and lace handkerchief and box. of stationery from the pupils. The latter presentation was made in a neat speech, by Miss Joan Thynne. All present thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Pianoforte selections were played bv Rosie Afunn, Ula Thomson, Daphne Stevenson, Margaret Barron, recitations by Elsie Rout, Alan McKnight, Joan Barron, Lexie Tollison, Douglas Speirs, Daphne Stevenson, May McKniglil, Mary Thynne, Peace Martin Shirly Barron, Miriam Symons, Maggie Smith and the season’s greetings by Ron MoEwan; songs by Shirlv Barron, Peace Martin,, Ula Thomson, Rosie Munn, Veda Barron, Mollio Downes; dialogues by Wilfred Symons and R. AfcEwan; the senior girls and boys, action songs by the infants and two hymns by the school. The accompaniments were played by Misses Satherley, M. Patterson, Rosie Munn, Mesdames Downes and Thomson. A very happy gathering closed with the singing of of the National Anthem.
