The condition of the district high ways is reported by the Manawatu Automobile Association to be as under: — Wellington-Shannon -Palmerston North: Under repair from Wellington to Porirua and bad from Parcniata to Pahautanui; otherwise greatly improved. Palmerston N.-Wanganui-New Plymouth: Generally, good. Bulls-Taihape: In quite good order, but Taihape to Ohakune impassable without chains. Wanga-nui-Ohakuue: Not open for motor traffic owing to slips. New Plymouth Te Kuiti, fair. Wellington-Master-ton-Napier: Good. Napier-Wairoa-Gisbome: Good.
