SWIMMING BATHS CARNIVAL.

The Sports Committee are holding a grand final dance in the Masonic Hall this evening. Special attractions.

On Thursday evening a most enjoyable and well-attended social evening was held by the Sports Committee at the residence of Mrs Koore. Jt was voted one of the best. Both the Citizens’ and Fibre Committees arc holding shop days in Main St. to-dav.

The Fibre Committee are holding a sacred concert in the Royal Theatre to-morrow evening.

The Maori Concert held in the Royal Theatre last night, under the auspices of the Fibre Queen Committee, was thoroughly appreciated by a large audience. The items by the talented Tukapua family were as keenly appreciated as on their previous visit. The poi, hakas, and fancy dancing were all vociferously encored. The programme from first to last, was full of merit. The company was hospitably entertained at the conclusion by the Fibre Committee.

On Monday evening the Citizens’ Committee will hold a euchre party and presentation of points prizes in Grady’s rooms.

The Sports Committee will hold a Maori Concert and dance in the Oroua Downs Hall. Rout’s bus leaves Post Office at 7.30 o’clock. A five hundred tournament was held in Grady’s rooms for the Citizen's Queen candidate last evening. Prizes were won by Mrs Ross and Mr McAllister.

The weather conditions last night were not altogether favourable for an open-air function but there was n good attendance at the Sports Committee’s function at Mrs Hornblow’s residence. The Silver Band under the conductorship of Mr 11. Osborne, enlivened the proceedings and young and old tripped the light fantastic on the lawn. Some old time games were also indulged in, and judging by the laughter, were heartily enjoyed. Competitions were also indulged in, while Mr IT. Hutchins did good business with “Aunt Sally." A “veiled lady” fortetold the future and gladdened the hearts of those who sought her occult power. The Mayor (Mr Perrcau) and Messrs Stevenson, Barron, Rogers, Carter and Corn kept the fun moving. Mr G. I*’. Smith’s elocutionary item were much appreciated. The affair both financially and socially, was very successful. Special thanks are due tb the ladies for the supper arrangements. The executive wish it to be known that the Carnival closes on Tuesday 23rd November, at 7.45 p.m. Anyone who has not contributed to this worthy cause will have an opportunity of doing so up to that date. Donations can be' given to Queens, or sent direct to the organiser (Mrs Pearson).
