ALL SAINTS’ JUBILEE.

CONCLUDES WjJTH BIRTHDAY PARTY. All Saints’ Jubilee celebrations were brought to a close on Tuesday afternoon with a children’s party, attended by scholars of the Sunday school in good numbers. Prior.!to the party, a children’s service was held in the church, when a very interesting address was delivered by the Rev. Mr Kenny, of Palmerston N., who dealt with incidents in the life of St. Nicholas. ‘The vicar (Rev. W. H. Walton) presided. The children joined hands and encircled the church and sang the hymn “The House of God.” A photograph was taken of the' assemblage and then an adjournment was made to the schoolroom, where tables were laden with edibles so dear to the juvenile appetite. But what attracted paramount interest was a huge jubilee .birthday cake, made by Mrs A. S. Easton. The cake was Surrounded by fifty candles and the honour of lighting them fell to the lot of Master Douglas Easton, son of Mr and Mrs Sid. Easton, and grandson of Mr and Mrs A. S. Easton, while little Audrey Robinson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Cecil Robinson, and grand-daughter of Mr and Mi’s F. Robinson, cut the cake. Thus, the descendants of two of the oldest families connected with All Saints’ were fittingly associated with the function. Mrs Walton, and Misses Grace Robinson, 0. York, and B. Crowe, of the Sunday School staff, together with others, assisted in attending to the wants of the children, while a gramaphone gave forth music during the feast. Sweets and nuts were dispensed by means of a joyful scramble outside. Miss Williams, on behalf of the church members, voiced appreci.ation of the efforts of the vicar and Mrs Walton in connection with the Celebrations, and to the teaching staff for assistance at the birthday gathering. The vicar, on behalf of Mrs Walton and the Sunday School teachers, suitably replied.
