BOROUGH COUNCIL BY-ELECTION.
TWO NOMINATIONS FOR • VACANCY.
As a result of the resignation last month of Or. Wm. Adams from the Foxton Borough Council, an extraordinary vacancy was created, necessitating a by-election. Two nominations were received yesterday for the vacancy, viz., Messrs Augustus Percy Easton, and Frank Lucinsky. The election will be held next Wednesday. Both candidates are well-known citizens. Mr Easton was a candidate at the last bi-ennial election and supported a progressive policy.
The Council as at present constituted is a very happy family and it is not anticipated that the byelection will disturb the placid municipal waters, unless one or other of the candidates can raise a bogey. The progressive policy of the present Council has met with general approval and will probably meet with the support of both candidates. ' It is only fitting, however, that they should give expression to their views on municipal affairs either on the public platform or through the local press.
