GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE TO HERD-TESTING.

Wellington, September 15. Hon. J. 0. Hawken lias notified the Wellington Chamber of Commerce that the Government will not subsidise herd-testing this year. When this letter was received this evening, the Council of the Chamber decided, on the motion of Mr. A. L. Hunt, to forward *a remit to the Associated Chambers, pressing further for Government assistance to herd-testing.
