MAORI TEAMS FIRST BIG - MATCH.
The Maori Rugby team will arrive at Marseilles on September 3. It will play preliminary matches on September 12 and September l(i. The first big'gnme will be played at Lyons on September 19. . At Wanganui on Saturday Manawhenua reps defeated Wanganui by eleven points (three tries, one converted) to three (a penalty goal). Jacob, Walker, Roberts, scored for the winners. At Palmerston on Saturday, Manawatu defeated To Kawau by Six points to nil. Manawatu Junior reps drew with Horowhenua juniors at Levin on Saturday, the scores being lfi all. At New Plymouth on Saturday, New Plymouth High School defeated Auckland Grammar School by 21 points to six. Auckland’s third attenqh to lift the Ranfurly Shield from Hawke’s Bay, was stayed off at Napier bn Saturday, when the holders decisively proclaimed their right to hold supremacy by 41 points to 11. The following players will represent Foxton Thirds against Weraroa Thirds as a curtain-raiser to the Bebbington Shield game, Horowhenua v. Dannevirke, to be played at Levin on Saturday:—
Simpson (2), Williams, Hartley, Royal, Huff, Aldridge, Wright, Mathers, Rankin, Cunninghame, Taylor, Stevenson (Capt.), Gupwell and Ross.
The Third grade match commences at 1.30 p.m.
