SWIMMING BATHS CARNIVAL
A Five Hundred tournament will be held in the Blanket Room tomorrow afternoon, at 2.30 o’clock, by the Farmers’ Queen Committee. The usual weekly euchre tournament conducted by the Fibre Queen Committee will be held in Hamer’s rooms this evening. The Fibre Queen Committee will also hold a social evening in the Anglican schoolroom to-morrow at 8 p.m. On Thursday evening the Citizens’ Committee will hold a concert in the Royal Theatre. The first half of the programme will be provided by children, and the second half by adults. Prices of admission will be 1/fi and 1/-. A dance was held on Saturday evening for the Fibre Queen candidate and an enjoyable time was spent by those present. A Fox Trot competition was held, the winners being Miss Peebles and Mr R. Shaw. A. shop day was held on Saturday for the Citizens’ Queen candidate. Thanks are due to those who so kindly helped to make it a success. Competitions were drawn for and won by Mrs 0. Cook, Mr Moore and Mr Clark, sheep, 5411 bs; Mrs Fuller, apples; Mrs J. Walls, ham; Mrs Baker, dinner; Mr C. Cuminerfield, tea; Mrs Hamer, cake. A Five Hundred evening was held last night for the Sports Queen candidate, a large number being present. The first prize was won by Mrs Cook and Mr Andresen, the “booby’s” prize going to Mrs Stevenson, ladies, and Air Barron, men.
