OTAKI SCHOOL BOYS VISIT FOXTON.

After the inter-primary schools match between Foxton and Otaki played at Foxton last Saturday, the visiting lads inspected the Foxton school. The Otaki Mail says that the Otaki boys were royally entertained at afternon tea, Mr. Mason (headmaster) and pupils proving most attentive. Prior to departing Mr. Wilmot returned thanks on behalf of flic visitors, said they were 1)1 eased to be present, and although his team had got a good “drubbing” he was pleased to be able to say they were sports and could take their defeat gracefully. He hoped Otaki would do better next season and record a win. Otaki in no way begrudged Foxton its win, and he was pleased to be able to offer congratulations to the victors —- they well deserved their victory. In conclusion Mr. W(ilmot expressed a desire to see Foxton win their other matches, and again thanked all for the fine hospitality extended. Cheers were then called for Foxton, and lustily given. Mr Mason thanked Mr. Wilmot for his kindly remarks, and expressed pleasure at the game proving so enjoyable. He was naturally pleased because his team had won, but the first sjoell had been the means of putting his boys on their mettle. All boys, he considered, showed good dash. Mr. Mason considered Otaki very fortunate in having fine supporters who have placed their cars at the disposal of the boys, and he only wished that Foxton was as fortunate. Referring to the competition Mr. Mason said that he was pleased if had been arranged, it was the means of bringing children together, while a cup of tea added to the enjoyment. He hoped the competitions would be continued next year and that the banner would circulate throughout the district. (Cheers). Cheers were also given for the young ladies who dispensed afternoon tea.
