FOXTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING.
A congregational meeting of the above was held last night in the church, presided over by the Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., interim moderator, to discuss filling the vacancy caused by the retirement of the Rev. F. McDonald.
The Rev. Mr. Brown outlined the object of the meeting and spoke encouragingly of the work which had been done. He called upon the treasurer to explain the financial
position. Mr. John Ross (secretary and treasurer) then presented the financial statement which disclosed that a considerable sum had been expended upon repairs to the manse and the installing of electric light in the church and manse. In this connection an amount of £26 was still outstanding and other amounts brought the liabilities up to about £l5O. Had the country districts paid their quota, he said, that the amount would have been substantially reduced. It was decided'to make an effort to liquidate outstanding accounts.
It was unanimously resolved to ask Presbytery to appoint a minister through the Church Extension Committee.
The Rev. Mr. Brown said that Presbytery would meet to-day and that the wish of the congregation would be submitted to it and he had no doubt that a minister would be appointed to fill the vacancy without unnecessary delay. In the meantime he would make a pastoral visit to all local members and adherents. The meeting closed with'a vote of thanks to the interim moderator and the Doxology.
