ROYAL PICTURES. “Broken Barriers,” the great Reginald Barker production comes to the Royal theatre on Friday. The photoplay was adapted by Sada Cowan and Howard Higgin from the brilliant novel by Meredith Nicholson, the man who wrote “The Hoosier Chronicle.” It’s a fearless handling of problems that are vital to-day in every American home. And think of the .cast! — James' Kirkwood, Mae Busch, A:dolphe Menjou, Norma Shearer, Robert Agnew, Winifred Bryson, George Fawcett, Ruth Stonehouse, Robert Frazer, Vera Reynolds!— This is one of the real treats of the season. On Saturday will be screened “Before Midnight.” A Secret Service story containing excitement, suspense, scenic splendour, drama, and the ultimate in thrills. One exciting situation dovetails into another, ending with a great surprise. William Russel and Barbara Bedford" are the principals. “ISN’T LIFE WONDERFUL.” Carol Dempster and Neil Hamilton, who have already 7 made big names in D. W. Griffith pictures rise to new heights in the mastei producer’s latest masterpiece “Isn t Life Wonderful,” which comes to the Town Hall to-morrow, Friday evening only. Miss Dempster is the heroine and Mr. Hamilton the heio of an idyllic love story of after the war Germany, written by a British Army officer and filmed entirely i|i Germany. Like .all Griffith masterpieces “Isn’t Life Wonderful” is full of humourous passages which relieve the tense dramatic episodes. With supporting films this feature is screen at usual pnCGS. Peter B. Ivyne’s story with an all star cast “The Golden Strain,” will be screened at the Town Hall on Saturday.
